Venus Boys Reflection

What we have seen so far of the movie Venus Boys has really shocked me. Going into this movie I was not sure what to expect and the movie really hit me hard. When I first heard the term drag king I initially thought of females that dressed and acted like men. From what the movie has shown, my understanding of what a drag king is has changed, but is not really clarified. Some of the aspects of the drag king culture made me confused. This movie puts things out there without sugar coating it and I think that adds to the tone of the topic of drag kings and also has to do with the theme of acceptance that comes up in the movie. Acceptance is a big part of  the movie, both acceptance within the drag community and outside of it as well. This idea of acceptance leads to complex ideas about gender and sexuality that I assume the movie will address later on.
